Why I paddle? To get out on the water. To watch the sunrise and the occasional dolphin. And because it makes me feel like I have a life

Addiction level: Fairly high- paddled 'til 34 weeks pregnant last year.

A usual weeks training: Feels like tonnes but not compared to lots of the others

Achievements: 
Silver in mixed Hammo 06. Staying awake at work.

Everyone should start outrigging because... it's got it all- fitness, water, waves and a social life.

Name: Amanda ‘Woohoo’ Ozolins

Paddling division: Open Women

Why I paddle? I love the adventure, beauty and challenges of the ocean, the thrills, and the awesome friends and inspiring people I get to meet along the way.

Addiction level: I became addicted while living in Samoa in 2003, and the addiction has now taken over my whole life!  It tore me away from my friends, family and job in my home town of Canberra, and resulted in me moving to the Sunshine Coast where the other paddling addicts live.

A usual weeks training: 6 sessions on the water, lots of eating, a swim, some more eating, a few yoga/pilates classes, a bit of gym, and lots more eating and sleeping.

Achievements: 
Won all OC1 events at Hamilton Island Cup 2007, and OC6 events
Team Australia - Molokai OC6 changeover race 2007 – 2nd
Molokai OC1 Relay, Hawaii 2007
Kauai World Challenge Relay, Hawaii 2007 – 1st
Kauai warm-up race, Hawaii 2007 – 1st
Various National Titles, OC1 & Oc6 2005- 2007
World Sprints 2006, OC1 rudderless, NZ – 4th
South Pacific Games 2003, Fiji, Team Samoa

Everyone should start outrigging because... if you don’t then you are missing out on a lot of fun, fitness and friendships!

Why I paddle? Cause I cant run... n the ocean.. the surenity the ocean brings to your life!

Addiction level: 22 years n still going.....

A usual weeks training: Couple of sessions here n there or as Katy puts it ' I don’t train, I’m just a natural' ha ha

Achievements:

Why I paddle? So I can go on overseas holidays with Dowy

Addiction level: Husband about to divorce me!

A usual weeks training: 2 glasses of wine every night

Achievements: 4 gold medals at Hammo 06, Team Australia Molokai 07, did 6 Tequila slammers without spewing at Nationals 06 Townsville

Why I paddle? so i can go turtle spotting and drink frapas

Addiction level: I gave away jumping out of perfectly good areoplanes, plummeting to the earth at over 200km/hr and sold my skydiving rig to buy my OC1

A usual weeks training: does lifting cartons of 24pk Coke classify as weight training???

Achievements: I have had the opportunity to do lots of racing but most memorable would be racing in a Koa canoe at Queen Lili'uokalani 2001

Everyone should start outrigging because... you make friends for life and what else would you want to be doing at 5am???

Why I paddle? Paddling what's that { I thought this was a job application}

Addiction level: I'm a practicing Choc addict Does that count!!!

A usual weeks training: Are we suppose to train-- sh*t nobody told me that

Achievements: Best Square pole dancer at Hammo' Also can out last anyone for an all nighter in Hawaii

Everyone should start outrigging because... Squash is a bugger on the wrist's

Why I paddle? because I can't catch balls

Addiction level: Moved town to paddle in the most beautiful place in Australia

A usual weeks training: decked out in lycra for most of the week

Achievements: finishing the loooong OC1 adventures are always a highlight.

Everyone should start outrigging because... you get to spend all your time out on the ocean and see things that blow your mind... oh and you get to wear lycra all the time :)

Paddling division: They said if i eat all my vegies and get bigger i can paddle with the big girls

Why I paddle? Cause i think the "no skin left on your a*ss" look will be the next big thing!

Addiction level: I actually think its a good idea to paddle to noosa tomorrow!

A usual weeks training: the occasional early morning and last minute call up for a downwind

Achievements: Just made it through my first whole year of paddling! Oh and OC6 women's short course national gold 07.

Everyone should start outrigging because... you meet great people who like to train hard and party hard

Why I paddle? How could you not?

Addiction level: Fairly ridiculous

A usual weeks training: OC1, OC6, run, weights, lounge, sleep

Achievements: Not many, as haven't done many seasons yet! 3rd overall in NSW Hoe Horo OC1 series (short course) for 2007; a few OC6 medals here and there... and hopefully many more achievements to come!

Everyone should start outrigging because... You meet great people, you can travel to fantastic places and you're out on the water - what could be better?

Paddling division: Wherever they put me, open or masters

Why I paddle? Being from PNG, it’s in my blood and is matter of survival, need to paddle to catch fish for dinner

Addiction level: Paddled to Noosa last weekend but sometimes think I’ll change to be fair weather paddler

A usual weeks training: depends on how much fishing i need to do

Achievements: Molokai 2004 and beat Amanda once in the warm up  in an OC1 timetrial

Everyone should start outrigging because... you make great friends, develop addiction to good coffee and lose heaps of skin off your butt

Paddling division: Open Women

Why I paddle? Because I love it - fitness, good friends, get to see dolphins, turtles and whales….but never sharks, they don’t exist out where we paddle... and the occasional after regatta parties.

Addiction level: Loopy!

A usual weeks training: 3x OC6 and lately try for 2xOC1

Achievements: A few OC6 medals and sprints regatta trophy, no OC1 races, did OC2 downwind from Moffats (with Sloanie) and didn’t come last…..yay!!

Everyone should start outrigging because... it’s a good way to keep fit, and meet new people
